"You can graduate with the finest degrees. You can read the most useful books. You can enjoy the loving support of family and friends.
But your degrees can't take action for you. Your books can't make the decision for you. Your family can't live your life for you.
There is no substitute for courage. At some point, you have to make the choice."
~ James Clear
Hello, Dear ones,
I hope your year is off to a loving and gentle start. ❤
This quote truly speaks to my mood this year and the energy I’m bringing into it. And if I’m honest, it feels empowering and quite wild for me.
I’ve been a lifelong seeker, looking for the thing outside of myself that I will magically recognize as “the thing” that’ll make life make sense. In December, through a very strange occurrence of serendipity, I was watching a documentary about people that were searching for “the thing” and thought they’d found it. That thing ended up being wildly dangerous and stole many people's time, money, agency, and spirit. While watching this documentary, I absolutely had the thought, "oh wow, that could’ve been me.”
That moment absolutely shook me and led to some deep and powerful revelations.
If you consider yourself a seeker in the world, I see you. I love learning and growing, I love connecting with new people and hearing about their experiences. I will continue to seek new experiences, meet new people, and try new things. However, I know now what I didn’t before, that I don’t need anything outside of myself to make it all make sense. I have all I need.
Now knowing that to be true, I noticed some things shifted within me. I realized with that truth, then perhaps I need to change how I’m approaching some of my life and my business.
I started this year with some big goals that I feel confident about and strongly connected to. I know that I have the capability of working toward them confidently with this newfound mindset.
We all have moments in our lives that are meant for gathering, and the past year was so much of that for me. I’ve shared this quote here before from Zora Neale Hurston, “There are years that ask questions, and years that answer.” Last year was a year of gathering answers. This year it’s all about being brave and acting on the answers and clarity I’ve gained.
This year for me is all about investing my time, resources, and energy into continuing to enjoy my truest and most beautiful life. There will be an abundance of rest, work, play, connection, and joy because those are the ingredients that make me feel alive.
What makes you feel most alive dear one, and what kinds of investments are you making in yourself and your life this year? If you don’t already know, I hope you take some time this year to discover what lights you up. Whether it’s work or a hobby you love, all are worthy endeavors that can lead us to such interesting places and people.
How are you going to invest in yourself, your peace, your joy, and your life?
I hope so, dear one, because you’re worthy of it. There’s no one else like you in the world, so I hope you know how much you matter to it.
If you need reminders or would like some help investing in yourself, reach out to me here. I currently have two spots open now for my three-month coaching program. I’d love the chance to help you see how fabulous you truly are and how bright your light can shine in this world.
I’m so grateful to be here on this journey with you!
With love and kindness,
Jessica
P.S.
The fun thing I am doing to care for myself this month is a month of Yoga with Adrienne! She is putting out a video every day, and I love that they are each less than 30 minutes. It’s making it easy for me to continue to stick with it, and I’m enjoying the theme of Center she’s used. It’s all about getting grounded and connecting deeply to the core of ourselves, which I love!
Lastly, if you found this letter relatable or helpful and you’d like to help me stay warm this winter you can buy me a coffee 😀
