Connecting with what you want

“The most important question you can ask yourself is what do I really want.” ~ Oprah

Hello, Dear Ones,

Sometimes having clarity on what you really want feels so vulnerable. Once we have the clarity, and we admit to ourselves or the world that we want something – there’s then the possibility to not get that thing.

I’m not referring to objects or things you can purchase. I’m talking about goals, life dreams, and the wants that are less tangible.

Lately, it’s come up in several conversations that people are having a hard time connecting with what they truly want because it can be scary. It can be hard at times to openly admit, or declare that you know what you truly want.

To say it boldly can mean that you have something to lose. And sometimes, once you have some truth time and uncover what you actually want, you may realize that your current situation isn’t what you wanted in the first place.

I see a couple of options here:

  • You can get crystal clear on what you want and why, and then take steps to make it happen (tiny baby steps are still movement!)

  • You can let other people tell you what they think is best, and blindly follow that

  • You can stay exactly where you are without evaluating or diving deep

This is your life, dear one, you get to decide if you want to play it big or small.

This year so far has been an example of this in my life. I’ve been working really hard in the past few months to get extremely clear on why I want to have this business. I’ve been scared for a lot of the past twenty-two months of this business that it isn’t going to work out, though it’s something I’ve really wanted. Along this journey, I’ve mapped out action steps and truly been out there in the arena doing the work. I’ve met so many wonderful people and it’s fed my excitement and drive to keep going in this work.

Because I’ve showed up and declared it to the universe, I know it’s mine to lose. Instead of focusing on fear though, I’ve switched strategies and I’m choosing to focus on the beautiful moments that arise instead. And there are always moments to smile about.

Fear and doubt will be my companions wherever I go, so I might as well be doing the thing that makes me feel most joyful and excited to show up every day.

If you’ve already done this work, you know where you want to go, and you are making moves, congratulations! And if you know deep down you’re not ready, that’s ok, be patient with yourself and trust that you’ll get there.

If something in here struck a nerve, and you’d like to explore it a bit further, please reach out, and let’s get started on connecting you with what you truly want. As always, I’m so grateful to be here with you.

With love and kindness,

Jessica

PS.

The fun thing I am doing to take care of myself is budgeting. If this is a hard area for you, I’ve had success with making it fun: adding smiley faces to tracking pages and mindfully noticing the pride and excitement I feel of completing a certain challenge I give myself. Reflection can be such a game changing part of creating sustainable changes. 🙂 Don’t forget to notice how awesome you are!
